A beautiful Cooper T51 - Chassis number FII/28/59, sold in October 1959 to the South African Power Tool and Equipment Company owner John Guthrie. Superbly presented and fitted with a 1960cc FPF Coventry Climax engine and ERSA 4 speed gearbox. The car was driven in period by John Guthrie and raced under the Ecurie Rhodes banner. Campaigned in the 1960 Lions International(Kumalo), 1961 Natal Grand Prix (Westmead SA), 1961 South African Grand Prix (Kyalami), 1961 South African Grand Prix (East London) and the 1962 V Cape Grand Prix (Killarney SA). In 1987, this stunning T51 was repatriated to the UK and restored to pre'61 Grand Prix form by Rod Jolley and Sid Hoole. Rod campaigned the car until 1996 when it was then sold to the next owner in France. Today the car is beautifully presented both mechanically and cosmetically.
